FAST ANSWER

Not every encounter is mandatory; conserve ammunition by using focused weak-point shots and leaving fights that do not block the objective.

Do not treat every enemy as a required kill. When ammunition is low, Frogwares recommends focused shots at weak points, avoiding encounters that do not block progress, retreating when health or resources are poor, and returning later with better equipment. Lowering the difficulty is also an intended recovery option.

Use this decision order:

  1. Identify whether the enemy blocks the main objective or only guards an optional space.
  2. If combat is required, focus aim and wait for a clear weak-point shot.
  3. If resources are already low, create distance rather than spending the final rounds on an uncertain kill.
  4. Continue the main goal or reach a refuge, then return after collecting supplies or improving the build.
  5. Lower difficulty if the same mandatory encounter repeatedly consumes the available stock.

The store describes the game as resource-lean and explicitly says some fights should be left until the player can rearm and retune a build. Retreat is therefore part of the survival loop, not a failed route.

Recognize a recoverable encounter

An encounter is recoverable without a reload when Calvin can still leave the space, the objective marker remains reachable, or a previous refuge and supply route are open. Break line of sight and use that exit. Do not fire the last rounds merely because an enemy is still visible.

For a fight that blocks the only route, compare the result after one focused attempt: ammunition should fall more slowly when shots land on visible weak points. If the same attempt ends with no health, no rounds, and no path forward, reload before the resource loss, lower difficulty, or leave to gather upgrades. The completion signal is reaching the next objective or refuge with enough stock to continue—not clearing every room.

Avoid changing several variables at once. If difficulty is lowered, keep the same route and aim discipline for the next attempt so it is clear whether the blocker has been removed.

Talent and inventory progression can change the next attempt. Use Talent Points and Dream Essence for upgrades and inventory expansion if capacity is the bottleneck.

Questions players ask next

Do I need to kill every enemy?

No. Frogwares says many encounters can be avoided.

How do I spend less ammo?

Focus aim and shoot enemy weak points instead of firing without a clear target.

What if a fight still drains all resources?

Retreat or skip it, continue the main goal, and return later with better equipment; lowering difficulty is also an official option.
