Find clues, then correctly connect related clues in Investigation Space to earn Talent progression resources. Optional investigations are an additional source of Dream Essence. Spend the resources at the Talent Table, which becomes available from the third Safe Room.
If the Talent interface is missing, first count your Safe Room progression. Reaching any refuge is not enough; Frogwares names the third Safe Room as the point where the Talent Table becomes available. Continue the main route rather than assuming the resource is bugged.
If Talent Points are short, revisit the current level for uncollected clues and check whether the Investigation Space still contains an incomplete relationship. The official answer ties the reward to correctly connecting related clues, not merely picking up an object.
If Dream Essence is the shortage, optional investigations are the documented additional source. The store says those cases do not gate the main story, but can reward supplies and upgrades. That makes them useful progression work when a difficult combat section can be postponed.
Check the route in the right order
Start in the current level, not at the Talent Table. Collect the visible investigation clues, open Investigation Space, and connect only the clues that form a supported relationship. A successful connection should resolve that piece of the investigation and award the associated progression result. If nothing changes, look for a missing clue before repeatedly rearranging the same pair.
After reaching the third Safe Room, find the Talent Table there and check the available unlocks. Having Dream Essence before that milestone does not create an earlier spending menu. If the table is present but an option cannot be selected, compare its displayed requirement with the resources currently held instead of assuming the save is broken.
Optional investigations are the recovery branch: use them when the main path is open but the current build needs more Dream Essence or supplies. Their completion is confirmed by the case itself, while the main story remains independent.
