What to know before you play
Apex Legends is Respawn's free-to-play, squad-based Hero Shooter and Battle Royale. Each player chooses a Legend with a distinct ability kit, then works with a squad through looting, positioning, fights, and the shrinking match space. Electronic Arts publishes the game on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms.

What a match asks you to do
Apex combines shooting with Legend abilities and squad coordination. The roster changes how a team gathers information, moves, protects space, or starts a fight, but weapons and map position still decide whether an ability creates a useful opening. Because seasons can alter Legends, loot pools, and locations at the same time, current patch answers belong in dated pages instead of being treated as permanent rules.
The game is a better fit for players who want repeatable competitive matches, team roles, movement, and a changing live-service ruleset. It is not a story campaign or a fixed single-player progression game.
Current season: Marked
Season 30, Marked, launched August 4, 2026. Axle had already joined in Season 29, Overclocked; Marked changed her live values while also reworking Bloodhound, refreshing World's Edge, and changing the weapon rotation. Later August notices addressed an RX 9070 XT crash and three hotfix symptoms.
