A friend can control Trace Miller in modern MyCAREER; when no friend joins, AI controls him, and both players receive their own VC and Season XP.
NBA 2K27 adds optional two-player co-op to the modern MyCAREER story. Your friend controls Trace Miller, the Running Mate assigned to your career; if no friend joins, AI controls Trace instead. Both players need NBA 2K27, and each receives their own full VC and Season XP reward.
The modern Fire & Concrete story spans 11 chapters. When Trace is introduced, the host chooses one of nine player templates for him. Gameplay earns points that upgrade his attributes, badges, and play style. Co-op can be enabled or skipped game by game, so the career is not locked behind a permanent second player.
MyCAREER Eras is a separate way to place a MyPLAYER into one of five historical periods:
- Magic vs. Bird Era, starting in 1984
- Jordan Era, starting in 1991
- Kobe Era, starting in 2003
- LeBron Era, starting in 2010
- Steph Era, starting in 2016
2K says each era uses period-specific rosters, rules, presentation, and Era Moments on a 40-level reward track. The announcement does not establish the fastest reward route or strongest historical build. Those need the released mode and repeatable results.
Cross-platform co-op still follows the game's platform rule: crossplay is confirmed only between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
