What to know before you play
Helldivers 2 is an online-only, four-player co-op shooter on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X|S. It supports crossplay across those platforms but does not support cross-save, cross-buy, account merging, or progression transfer.

The account boundary matters
Crossplay lets different platforms join the same squad. It does not copy a diver. Arrowhead says progression, purchased content, commemorative items, preorder armor, and Warbonds remain on the originating account and platform. Linking Steam and PlayStation accounts does not create a shared save, and support cannot merge or restore items onto a different account.
This is the most important buying warning for a returning player. A new Xbox or PC purchase can join friends elsewhere, but it begins separately.
What changed in August 2026
Devoid of Liberty is live. It extends the Illuminate conflict into the Void with transformed planets, new and randomized operation objectives, reconnaissance work, structures to destroy, secondary extraction zones, the Wretch and Crusher, SEAF platoon support, and progression up to 300 ranks. Helldivers 2 also entered the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog on August 12, subject to region and catalog availability.
Live-war state can change after publication. The update page therefore explains stable systems rather than giving a planet order that may already be obsolete.
What needs gameplay evidence
An official announcement can name an enemy or objective, but it cannot prove the best loadout, fastest sample route, or safest difficulty strategy. Those guides require a dated build, repeated missions, and clear squad assumptions. This package does not convert update marketing into a tier list.
