Helldivers 2 has crossplay, but it does not have cross-buy, cross-save, or cross-progression. Arrowhead's September 1, 2026 support update says PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players can join one another, while a move to another platform or account leaves your diver progress, DLC, and limited-time items behind.
What that means before you switch platforms
- Want to play with friends on another platform? Keep your current copy. Crossplay already lets PC, PS5, and Xbox players squad together.
- Want to continue with the same diver on another platform? You cannot. The new platform or account has its own progress.
- Want one purchase on two stores? Cross-buy is not available.
- Want support to merge accounts or recover the old account's items? Arrowhead says support cannot do either.
Linking a Steam account to PlayStation does not turn the two platform saves into one profile. Account linking and crossplay are connection features; neither is a progression-transfer tool.

Crossplay means the platforms can join one squad. It does not mean one diver profile follows the player. Arrowhead specifically says progression, DLC, and limited-time content—including commemorative items and preorder armor—will not be available after starting on another platform or another account on the same platform.
Arrowhead also says linking Steam and PlayStation accounts does not copy PS5 data into Steam or the reverse. Support cannot merge two accounts, transfer items or progression, or restore Warbonds from an old account to a new one.
Is cross-progression coming?
As of the September 1 support update, Arrowhead says it has no plans to implement cross-progression at this time. That describes the current plan; it should not be read as a permanent statement about every future update.
Crossplay, cross-save, and cross-buy are different

Before buying again, decide whether playing on a different device is worth restarting progression. If the goal is only to play with friends on another platform, crossplay already supports that from the existing copy. Keep friend-code and privacy settings separate from save expectations.
