GAME INTRODUCTION
What to know before you play
Forza Horizon 6 is a released open-world racing game set in Japan. Xbox Series X|S and PC launched May 19, 2026; the PlayStation 5 version remains scheduled for later in 2026 without a precise date. Crossplay and cross-save are broad, but ownership and DLC licenses do not automatically follow every save.
Choose the exact answer
- Check PS5 release status and platforms before buying or waiting for another system.
- Use crossplay support to confirm which friends can drive together and which account is required.
- Read cross-save and Play Anywhere before moving from Steam to Xbox or the future PS5 release.
- Compare the official PC requirements, including the 167 GB SSD requirement.
- Check editions and DLC before paying for Car Pass, Premium Upgrade, VIP, or expansions.
What is new in Horizon 6?
The Horizon Festival moves to Japan. Playground Games describes more than 550 cars at launch, updated Forza Aero, paintable window liveries, body kits for selected vehicles, and its largest city area yet. Tokyo is joined by roads inspired by the C1 loop, Gingko Avenue, Mt. Haruna, and Bandai Azuma.
The open world supports solo play, online PvP, online co-op, Car Meets, EventLab, and Horizon CoLab. Those are different activities, so “crossplay works” does not mean every failure has the same cause. Sign-in, privacy, platform subscription, convoy state, and the activity itself should be checked separately.
The three ownership rules that matter
- Crossplay connects players. Xbox Series, Xbox on PC, Steam, and the future PS5 version are in the official support plan.
- Cross-save moves progress. The same set is included in Forza's first full cross-save implementation for Horizon.
- Licenses remain storefront-specific. A save can know you used DLC without granting the paid DLC on a store where you never bought it. Xbox Play Anywhere is the exception inside the Microsoft digital ecosystem, not a universal free-copy program.
That separation prevents the most expensive misunderstanding: buying one edition on Steam and assuming its expansions will become owned on PlayStation because the save transfers.
PC and handheld boundary
The PC minimum calls for 16 GB RAM, a GTX 1650, RX 6500 XT, or Arc A380, and 167 GB on an SSD. The recommended GPU rises to an RTX 3060 Ti, RX 6700 XT, or Arc A580. Forza also marks the game Steam Deck Verified and supports cross-save on SteamOS devices.
Steam Deck verification does not change the Windows desktop requirements, and a handheld's successful preset is not proof that a desktop below minimum will behave the same way.
What is not yet published here
Google suggestions show demand for barn finds, treasure cars, the best drag car, money methods, missing roads, drift cars, and class rankings. Those are excellent research targets, but each requires a current map, unlock state, tune or class restriction, route, and named seasonal build. This first package publishes the high-demand questions whose answers are already verifiable from first-party material.
