AT A GLANCE

The confirmed loop of Nagash's pre-release campaign systems.

Nagash's campaign loop is territorial: build Necropolises to generate Necromantic Energy, spend it through the Black Pyramid, bring Mortarchs under control, and recover Books of Nagash to expand his spell access. These are connected systems, not four unrelated collectibles.

Necropolises and Gravecall

Major settlements can become Necropolises. Each one gathers Necromantic Energy from its own province and every adjacent province, so placement affects the size of the energy network. Energy builds Necropolis structures, raises unit caps, and supports instant local recruitment through Gravecall. Standard recruitment remains available using Dark Energy.

Black Pyramid progression

The Black Pyramid is Nagash's starting settlement and research center. Its upgrade nodes require Empowered Sigils. Creative Assembly says those sigils come from multiple sources, with building and improving Necropolises as the principal route. In practical terms, expanding the Necropolis network advances the Pyramid rather than leaving research detached from the map.

Mortarchs

The five named Legendary Lord Mortarchs are Arkhan the Black, Neferata, Luthor Harkon, Vlad von Carstein, and Mannfred von Carstein. Subjugating one grants immediate ownership of that character's empire and forces. The three named Legendary Hero Mortarchs are Dieter Helsnicht, Walach Harkon, and Krell. The Nameless is a follower whose assigned lord can possess enemy units before battle.

Books of Nagash

Recovering the books adds spells from four other Lores: Light, Vampires, Death, and Nehekhara. The official article establishes that reward category but does not publish a complete live map route or an optimal book order. A route presented before September 24 would be guesswork rather than a tested campaign guide.

For unit access, use Nagash's confirmed roster page. For the purchase boundary, see the ownership explanation.
