GAME INTRODUCTION
What to know before you play
The Division 2: Red Horizon launched August 27, 2026 as Year 8 Season 3. The seasonal update brings the Cleaners to Washington, D.C., adds the Under Pressure modifier system, new Exotic and named gear, permanent Toxic PvE Dark Zones, rotating Blackout PvP Dark Zones, two Classified Assignments, and free and premium reward tracks. The $29.99 Bundle and $49.99 Supply Drop are optional packages, not admission fees for the whole season.

Free systems versus paid packages
Ubisoft calls the Premium Season Pass optional and lists a separate free track containing the Iron Will Exotic Chest, Fafnir Exotic Shotgun, named weapons and gear, caches, cosmetics, and other rewards. The $29.99 Bundle combines the Premium Pass with two Classified Assignments, a 15% Season Pass XP boost, an outfit, and 20 tier skips. The $49.99 Supply Drop adds 5,000 Premium Credits.
This distinction prevents a common buying mistake: Red Horizon is both the name of the live season and the name used on paid store packages. Owning The Division 2 is required. Buying the most expensive package is not required to activate the Pressure Gauge or enter the season's free progression track.
What changed in play
Under Pressure builds a Gauge through kills, headshots, multikills, Skill kills, Status Effect kills, fire kills, and group kills. The Gauge supplies bonuses and powers one selected Active Modifier. Red Horizon also introduces Fafnir, Iron Will, Ember Engine, named pieces, talent changes, and a revised approach to Brand Sets.
Dark Zone rules split more clearly. Toxic remains as a permanent normalized PvE variant. Blackout joins the PvP rotation without stat normalization, so SHD Watch, Expertise, and Prototype base stats matter. Global PvP balance still applies, which means “uncapped” does not mean every PvP override disappears.
Why this cluster is being covered now
Steam's United States Top Sellers chart placed the base game at number 19 after a 53-position rise, while the new Supply Drop appeared at number 45. The August 28 Steam snapshot showed 5,197 concurrent players and 32,310 store recommendations. Those figures show a reactivated audience; they are not claimed as bundle sales.
The search opening is freshness and consolidation. Ubisoft's live facts are distributed across a long season article, a Gamescom roadmap, Twitch Drop instructions, and separate store products. These pages keep those contracts separate and do not invent Scout routes, bounty locations, best builds, or gear-farm recommendations without reproducible live-build evidence.
