A safe binding decision tree for choosing a primary character, checking shared content, handling device-specific rank, and avoiding long relinking mistakes.
Marvel Rivals supports cross-platform progression through account binding, but it does not merge characters. Use Settings → Other → Account → Account Binding, connect only the platform accounts you control, and deliberately choose the primary character whose eligible progress you want to use. Rank, battle data, leaderboards, and platform-exclusive items keep important device boundaries.
Before you bind anything
Record privately—which means never sending credentials to Player Guidebook—which character has the progress and purchases you intend to keep primary. Confirm you can sign in through the official PC, PlayStation, or Xbox flow. Do not share passwords, recovery codes, QR approvals, cookies, or credential screenshots with a guide site or another player.
Safe account-linking route
Choose the primary character before creating a long cooldown
Separate a character-selection problem from a platform-unbinding problem.
- 01Inventory each characterIdentify the platform, progress, purchases, and ranked state without sharing credentials.
- 02Use official Account BindingSettings → Other → Account → Account Binding.
- 03Select the primary characterCharacters are selected, not merged.
- 04Check device boundariesRank, battle data, leaderboards, and exclusive items do not become universal.
- 05Stop before unbindingPlatform relinking can be restricted for 180 days; character switching uses a separate 30-minute cooldown.
- 06Restore external bindingsTwitch or Discord rewards may require re-binding and a separate claim check.

- Inventory the characters. Note the platform, public identity, meaningful cosmetics, currency, and ranked state.
- Open the official binding screen. Go to Settings → Other → Account → Account Binding.
- Connect the intended platform account. Verify the identity shown by the official flow before approving it.
- Choose the primary character. This is not a merge; the selected character becomes the progression reference for eligible content.
- Check shared and device-bound data separately. Rank, battle data, and leaderboards remain device-specific.
- Rebind external rewards if necessary. Twitch or Discord connections may need to be restored.
- Stop before unbinding. A platform unbind can create a 180-day relinking restriction; character switching has a separate 30-minute cooldown.

What shares and what stays separate
| Data or item | Cross-progression treatment | Boundary to remember |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible primary-character progression | Available under the official binding model | Characters are selected, not merged |
| Rank and ranked settlement | Device-specific | Switching platform does not create one universal rank |
| Battle data | Device-specific | Statistics can differ by device |
| Leaderboards | Device-specific | Position is not one combined record |
| Platform-exclusive cosmetics | Remain on their platform | Binding does not remove exclusivity |
| Twitch and Discord rewards | May require external re-binding | Claim status and delivery are separate checks |
If you linked the wrong account
Do not repeatedly disconnect accounts. First verify the exact platform identity and selected primary character. If the mistake requires unbinding, read the warning before confirming; the official rule can prevent binding a different platform account for 180 days. On PlayStation, the official Q&A says a different PSN account cannot replace the first linked PSN account, while the original can be relinked under the stated rules.
If the primary character is wrong but the platform link is correct, use the character-selection control and respect the 30-minute cooldown. Do not use a full platform unbind to solve a character-selection problem.
If progress or a reward is missing
- Is the expected primary character selected?
- Is the item eligible to share, or platform-exclusive?
- Is the data rank, battle history, or leaderboard information that stays device-specific?
- Was a Twitch or Discord reward claimed in the external service?
- Does the external account need to be rebound?
- Has the 30-minute switch cooldown completed?
If those checks fail, contact official support with the platform, public character identifier, approximate time, and reward name. Never include a password or recovery code.
