LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games Store. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition launches September 18, 2026, the same day the Mayhem Collection adds playable Joker and Harley Quinn, Mayhem Mode, and a new story mission.

This is an open-world action adventure, not just a character catalogue. The story follows Bruce Wayne from training with the League of Shadows to building a crime-fighting family. Combat borrows Batman-style attack chains, takedowns, counters, and gadgets, while LEGO humor and environmental puzzles keep it distinct from the Arkham games.

What the base game contains

The Standard Edition includes the full story, seven core playable characters, 100 suits and outfits, more than 20 vehicles, and more than 250 Batcave display items and trophies. The seven characters are Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Jim Gordon, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul. Each has a separate skill tree and signature tools, so changing characters changes more than the costume.

Gotham is open for crimes, puzzles, challenges, collectibles, and vehicle travel. The story draws from decades of Batman films, television, comics, and games, but WB Games describes it as an original synthesis rather than an adaptation of one movie.

The next demand window is September 18

Switch 2 is not a rumor or an undated port. WB Games gives it a worldwide September 18 release and lists both Standard and Deluxe editions. Every Switch 2 preorder includes The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit. The physical Deluxe Edition also includes a Retro Video Game Batman minifigure while supplies last.

The same date brings the Mayhem Collection to Deluxe owners. It adds Joker and Harley Quinn as playable characters with their own abilities, gadgets, and takedowns, plus Mayhem Mode, an Arkham escape story mission, seven additional suits, five Batcave items, and a Batmobile.
