AT A GLANCE

After launch, Deluxe is a $20 content choice: Inmate Michael, Richard, Alexis, Laurie cosmetic access, a digital comic, and listed extras. Early access and preorder skins have expired.

Halloween: The Game Digital Deluxe costs $59.99 in the US, Standard costs $39.99, and Steam now lists the separate Digital Deluxe Upgrade for $19.99. The game released September 8, so four-day early access and the Phantom Michael preorder skin are expired benefits—they should not influence a purchase made today.

The known Deluxe package adds Inmate Michael, two playable Civilians named Richard and Alexis, advance access to a Final Girl Laurie Strode cosmetic, a digital comic, and other listed extras. The official FAQ also promises “more surprises,” but does not identify them. Do not treat that phrase as a season pass, future story DLC, or another named character.

What the extra $20 actually buys

Early access has ended. The decision now rests on the named content:

  • Inmate Michael is a Deluxe Michael Myers appearance.
  • Richard and Alexis are playable Civilian characters, not costumes for another Hero.
  • Final Girl Laurie Strode is listed as advance access to a cosmetic.
  • The digital comic is part of the Deluxe package.
  • The publisher lists additional bonuses and “more surprises,” but does not fully itemize the latter.

If the named characters, skin, and comic do not matter, Standard is the complete base game. The official material does not identify a gameplay expansion required to play the core single-player or multiplayer modes.

Phantom Michael is a preorder bonus, not the Deluxe upgrade

Before September 8, both digital editions included Phantom Michael Myers as a preorder bonus. That period is over. The publisher called it a digital preorder exclusive and said it would not be sold after launch, so it must not be counted as a benefit of either current edition.

Can Standard be upgraded later?

Yes. Steam now lists a Digital Deluxe Upgrade for $19.99. Standard plus the upgrade totals $59.98 at the current US prices, effectively the same as the $59.99 Deluxe bundle.

The official FAQ names two Civilian characters, one Michael skin, and unspecified extras for the upgrade. It does not clearly promise the digital comic or define the post-launch status of the Laurie cosmetic in the standalone upgrade. Buy the full Deluxe bundle if those two items are essential and you want the least ambiguous package; otherwise the add-on is the cheaper path for an existing Standard owner.

  • Choose Digital Standard if you only want the complete base game.
  • Choose Digital Deluxe if Inmate Michael, Richard, Alexis, the Laurie cosmetic access, and the comic are worth roughly $20 to you.
  • Buy the $19.99 Upgrade if you already own Standard and want the named character/skin content; verify the store package before assuming the comic is included.
  • Do not buy either current package expecting early access or Phantom Michael; both offers ended at launch.

These are the digital packages. The physical Standard and Collector's Edition launch October 6 with a different set of items. The release and early-access page covers platforms and timing; the Halloween game overview links all verified coverage.
