AT A GLANCE

Identify the lock first, protect consumable keys, use verified passcodes only, and leave doors with no corroborated solution marked unknown.

Identify the lock before spending the key. Welcome to Elderfield references mix physical keys, progression prerequisites, and numeric clues. A code that opens one prompt does not answer every locked door, and a rare key should not be tested randomly.

Match the lock before spending a key

Dave's 43681 clue

The stronger developer-cited current reference reports 43681 for Dave's House and connects it to Sam's Cryptic Note. A separate fan guide prints 43_81 with the underscore as literal text. Because those presentations conflict, keep the note and compare the live prompt; this page uses 43681 as the entry backed by the developer-cited record, not as a universal keypad code.

Gate and Skeleton keys

Current references map the fixed Gatekeeper quest keys in order: Burgers Burgers, the General Store, then the Mall F1 lower/back office after the Mall Administrator. They open the west, south-east, and north-east Sewers doors respectively. If a fourth opening stays sealed, do not assume one of those three keys belongs to it.

Basic Skeleton Keys are a different system. A developer-cited reference describes random sources such as garbage, chests, boxes, and fishing treasure; a newer fan record also lists event pickups and later crafting. Treat the source as variable and the key as consumable.

Before using either key type:

  1. confirm the name of the blocked location or prompt;
  2. compare it with the key's documented destination;
  3. keep a clean save or external backup if the key is scarce;
  4. use it only when the route and prerequisite match;
  5. verify the door state immediately afterward.

If the key disappears without opening the intended route, stop and record the build, location, and prior prerequisite. Do not reload and test every other door from memory.

What to do with the Fish Door

Leave it for later. Current searches expose the question, but the checked sources do not provide enough corroborated location-and-item evidence to publish an answer. “Unknown” is a real boundary, not an invitation to try the Gate Key, Skeleton Key, or Dave's code at random.

When a verified answer still fails

  • confirm you are at the same named lock as the source;
  • complete the prerequisite named by the current route;
  • make sure the item is in the active inventory rather than storage;
  • test once from a clean save;
  • report the exact build and prompt text if the state differs.

If other progress is also missing, check whether the problem is actually a damaged load index using the save recovery guide.

Why these questions stay on one page

Each code or key can be answered in one line, but the player task cannot. The useful answer is the mapping between a lock, its prerequisite, the risk of consuming a scarce item, and whether the route is genuinely verified. Splitting each number into a thin page would add search clutter without helping the player decide what to do.

QUICK ANSWERS

Questions players ask next

What is Dave's passcode in Welcome to Elderfield?

The current community town reference gives the clue 43_81 and identifies the missing digit as 6, producing 43681.

What opens the Fish Door?

No sufficiently corroborated current answer was found for this page. The Fish Door remains marked unknown rather than being assigned a guessed key or code.

Can keys be consumed?

Treat a key as potentially consumable until the current route proves otherwise. Back up before testing a scarce key and confirm the destination first.
