Archive Shards are a flexible substitute material obtained from supported Hard-or-higher content. Open the in-game Library for the complete live list because later updates can add or remove activities.

What Archive Shards can replace

Nexon's overhaul says they can substitute selected materials for:

• some Descendant research;
• some Ultimate Weapon research;
• weapon and reactor enhancement materials.

The official example includes weapon components such as Nano Tube, Synthetic Fiber, Polymer Syncytium, and Code where the research interface permits substitution. Not every material is eligible.

The Hard Karel completion value was visibly revised in the update record, so use the current in-game reward panel rather than copying the crossed-out number.

How to use them safely

1. Open the research or enhancement recipe.
2. Select an eligible material slot.
3. Confirm that Archive Shard substitution is offered.
4. Compare the shard cost with the time needed to farm the original material.
5. Preserve shards for bottlenecks if the original item already drops from another activity you need.

Important exclusions

The May overhaul originally excluded several content types from shard drops and stated that details should be checked in the Library. Onslaught and other modes were added later. That is why a static “all locations” table should carry a date and not be treated as permanent.
