Keep a build-stamped upgrade journal
Write the skill name, cost, prerequisite, tooltip, and the measurable result. If the tooltip changes, update the page. This is especially important for a new game where balance patches can make yesterday’s “best” route stale.

What the redesign actually changed
The developer’s Steam announcement says the redesigned skill tree moved away from static number boosts and added meaningful automation skills, Ember improvements, storage chests, and Sprint. That is a stronger starting point than a generic “upgrade carry capacity” list: test whether the upgrade changes a task or simply raises a stat, and keep demo-era screenshots separate from the full release.
The demo hands-on also reports that carry capacity, gathering speed, and crafting unlocks all compete for skill points. The right first choice depends on whether your current friction is travel, resource collection, or a blocked recipe.
