GAME INTRODUCTION
What to know before you play
State of Decay 3 is an open-world survival game due in 2027, with closed beta playtests planned before the end of 2026. Registration is open, but there is no exact beta or launch date. It is announced for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, PlayStation 5, and cloud, with Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere support.

Pick the answer you need
- Closed beta date, sign-up route, and selection rules
- Release window, PS5, Steam, Game Pass, and Play Anywhere
- Four-player co-op, shared worlds, and crossplay status
- Map size, settlements, survivors, crafting, and permadeath
What is confirmed
The game can be played solo or in a shared world with up to four people. Unlike the tethered sessions associated with State of Decay 2, the announced design lets players work together or move into different parts of the map. A shared save can be changed asynchronously: another member can advance the story, build facilities, or work on a settlement while the host is away.
The playable space is described as roughly four times one State of Decay 2 map. A community can grow into as many as three bases. Recruited survivors still matter as individuals, and death remains permanent, but Undead Labs says the consequences now spread through relationships and morale across the wider community.
What is not ready to answer
This is a pre-release dossier, not a walkthrough or review. No checked source provides a final mission list, best base, final crafting economy, PC requirements, performance verdict, exact beta schedule, or final cross-platform progression policy. Those answers require a dated announcement or a current playable build.
