MULTI-SOURCE VERDICT · CHECKED 2026-09-13

Bodycam's camera, gunfeel, and tactical tension remain distinctive, but visibility, hardware demands, limited progression, and lingering Early Access trust concerns make it a hardware-dependent buy.

WHAT HOLDS UP

The camera creates real tension

The visual treatment and weapon handling give ordinary firefights a distinctive sense of risk and immediacy.

IGN · Game8 · GamingBolt · Wanderer

Its best matches feel genuinely tactical

Positioning, sound, and lethal gunfights can create memorable short sessions when the mode and map align.

Game8 · GamingBolt · Wanderer
WHAT COULD STOP YOU

The signature look also hurts readability

Motion, darkness, blur, and limited visibility are part of the product, not just settings mistakes.

IGN · Game8 · GamingBolt

Hardware and content depth limit the audience

Demanding performance and a shallow long-term progression case remain important even as newer coverage reports improvement.

IGN · Game8 · Wanderer

Best fitPC players with strong hardware who want tense short-form tactical matches and accept an abrasive body-camera presentation.

Think twice ifYou are sensitive to camera motion, need broad progression, or expect consistent performance on modest hardware.

GAME INTRODUCTION

What to know before you play

Bodycam tactical firefight

Bodycam is a Windows PC Early Access multiplayer FPS, and its free v0.8 Locked & Loaded update released September 2, 2026 at 17:00 UTC. The limited private playtest ended August 31 at 02:00 UTC and is no longer the route into the update. Steam now presents the Locked & Loaded systems as current game features.

What changes with v0.8

Locked & Loaded is described as a foundation overhaul rather than one map patch. The published work includes redesigned procedural weapon animation, stress-based reload variations, a loadout and attachment system, an in-world tactical tablet, FPV drones, RC cars, rebuilt environmental sound propagation, VOIP changes, and the Trenches battlefield.

Private-test footage is not a reliable performance benchmark for the public build. The test used controlled invitations to stress systems and matchmaking, exposed the test inventory for evaluation, and reset test progression before the public update. It then closed at its announced time. An old invitation or a clip showing everything unlocked is therefore evidence from the test branch, not a current unlock route. Optimization, attachment balance, server behavior, and map-specific tactics still require current public-build evidence before they become durable guidance.

The developer said it found no evidence that the host crash exploit accessed personal data; that is the studio's published investigation result, not an independent security audit.
