A current-system factory checklist that avoids obsolete conveyor instructions.
In the current Big Ambitions system, a factory produces goods and sends them to a warehouse or back to an importer/export pier; the warehouse distributes goods to stores. Old guides that build long conveyor chains describe an earlier factory design.
Factory setup checklist
- Rent or purchase a suitable industrial property.
- Register a business there with Factory as the business type.
- Check the in-game F1 factory entry for the current recipe and required machines.
- Place the required production machines, input/output capacity, and pallet storage without blocking staff paths.
- Recruit and assign the required factory workers.
- Provide the management and logistics roles shown by the current business interface.
- Assign a driver and compatible vehicle to the factory logistics slot.
- Set production recipes and a non-zero “produce until” target.
- Set a warehouse—or the relevant importer pier if selling excess—as the destination.
- Enter a non-zero delivery target for each product.

Stores
The factory is not a replacement warehouse for normal retail distribution. A direct factory-to-store route copied from an old guide can fail because the current design separates production from store distribution.
“Produce until” explained
The factory produces until stock reaches the target, then pauses; production resumes after stock drops below it. A target of zero means no production target. Use a value large enough to cover warehouse transfers without filling all available pallet space.
If the field refuses larger typed numbers, a June developer reply linked the issue to the “use my OS's number format” option and said it was targeted for the 1.0 release. On a current build, confirm the installed version before applying that old workaround.
Factory workers standing still
Check these before reporting a bug:
- every machine has the correct recipe or product selected;
- the “produce until” value is above current stock;
- required raw materials are present;
- output storage has room;
- scheduled workers cover the required stations;
- employees can walk between their stations and storage;
- a downloaded blueprint was installed for the current version.
For a blueprint-related stall, one developer answer recommends temporarily closing the factory, picking up and replacing a machine, then reopening; it solved that specific report. Treat that as a targeted troubleshooting step, not normal setup.
Choose the first factory by supply-chain need
Do not build a factory merely because a product has a high sale price. Start when your stores consume enough of a factory product to justify the property, machines, workers, raw materials, vehicle, and management overhead. Until then, wholesaler or importer supply can be simpler even if its unit cost is higher.

Where should a Big Ambitions factory send finished goods?
Send factory output to a warehouse first; the warehouse distribution network supplies stores afterward.
