AT A GLANCE

A first-business comparison checklist for your current save; it does not claim a universal most-profitable business.

There is no verified universal “best first business” for Big Ambitions 1.0 in the available official sources. Use this checklist to compare candidates in your own save before signing a lease. It covers the costs and operating constraints that can be checked consistently; it is not a profit ranking.

Score the business before signing a lease

CheckGood signWarning sign
Local demandStrong unmet demand in the target neighborhoodSeveral existing businesses already cover it
BuildingCapacity and traffic fit the businessExpensive space with little usable customer capacity
Supply chainProducts are easy to buy or you already have logisticsRequires imports/factory infrastructure you cannot fund
StaffingFew roles and manageable schedulesSpecialized staff, many stations, or expensive coverage
Opening hoursDemand aligns with hours you can coverLong hours create wages without enough customers
Setup costEquipment plus working capital leaves a cash bufferLease and furniture consume nearly all available cash
AutomationCan run while you open the next siteStill needs daily manual restocking or player labor

A practical first-business filter

Pick the simplest business that meets three conditions: visible demand, affordable correct equipment, and a supply route you can execute today. Early cash flow is more valuable than a theoretical high-margin operation that stays closed because one role or imported item is missing.

Before opening a second site, make the first one pass this test:

  1. It remains stocked through a full operating day.
  2. Required workstations and cleaning are covered.
  3. Employees do not create avoidable demand or schedule penalties.
  4. The business is profitable after rent, wages, product cost, and recurring services.
  5. It can operate for several days without the player working the register or making emergency supply runs.

Why old rankings need a version check

The official 0.11 notes say gyms gained soda and energy-drink sales without needing an extra employee. Law firms, graphic-design businesses, and web-development agencies received profitability boosts, and Travel Agency plus Event Planning Agency were added. That makes pre-0.11 rankings unsafe to reuse without testing.

What the Pricing Manager changes

Version 1.0's Pricing Manager can change prices for a whole neighborhood, and higher skill can provide daily price suggestions. That feature changes price management; the announcement does not say which business produces the highest profit. Compare the result against the same business's sales and costs in your save.

Compare candidates on the same basis

For each candidate, note the current version, difficulty, neighborhood, location capacity, nearby competition, setup cash, opening hours, staffing, prices, and supply route. Compare businesses only after applying the same time window and cost categories. If those fields differ, the result describes two different operating conditions rather than a reliable ranking.

QUICK ANSWERS

Questions players ask next

Can one business be ranked first for every Big Ambitions 1.0 save?

No. The available official sources do not provide a current like-for-like profit comparison, and operating conditions differ by save. Use the checklist to compare candidates on the same basis.

What should I check before signing a first lease?

Check local demand, location capacity, required equipment, staffing, supply access, opening-hour coverage, and the cash left after setup.
