On September 4, a WARDOGS developer posted a pinned clarification: Linux is not officially supported, the team is still working on Proton compatibility, and it could not commit to support for the September 10 launch. The post also says earlier alpha or beta sessions working on Linux did not establish official compatibility.
That makes the practical answer clearer than a hardware comparison: Linux and default-SteamOS buyers should wait for a new developer confirmation after launch. The current sources do not establish Proton support, a Steam Deck verification badge, or a supported workaround. They also do not say that Secure Boot or TPM is required, so this page does not add either requirement.
