CD Projekt calls Songs of the Past a full paid expansion closer in scope to Blood and Wine; it has announced 2027 and the story setting, not a date or price.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past releases in 2027 as a paid expansion for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. CD Projekt has not published the exact date, price, or a $39.99 figure; search snippets and unofficial retailer entries are not official prices.
The company is unusually clear about the product category. In its Q1 2026 earnings Q&A, joint CEO Michał Nowakowski said Songs of the Past is an expansion rather than a small DLC. He described its scope as closer to Blood and Wine, while calling that comparison subjective, and said the price would be revealed when the company was ready.

The story moves to Dandelion's homeland
Geralt travels with Dandelion to Letten, a new region shaped by rural traditions, harvests, and festivals. The peaceful surface hides a long-dormant supernatural threat. Official descriptions promise choices and consequences, old friends, new characters, new monsters, mutagens and abilities, and a chain weapon designed in part for crowd control.
The chain is a deliberate reference to the opening cinematic of the original Witcher game. The announcement does not name the central villain, list quests, reveal the ending, or explain how the expansion begins from an existing save. Those story and access details have not been disclosed.
What the 2027 window does and does not tell buyers
Songs of the Past can be wishlisted on selected storefronts. Wishlist availability is not a preorder, final price, or exact release date. The Xbox listing labels it content that requires The Witcher 3, while CD PROJEKT RED's announcement places the expansion on current-generation platforms and says it benefits from the Remastered upgrades.
CD PROJEKT RED and Fool's Theory are co-developing the expansion. Remastered is the base for its visual, gameplay, performance, and progression improvements, but owning the free Remastered upgrade does not include this separate paid expansion.
