GAME INTRODUCTION
What to know before you play

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered releases September 29, 2026 as a free upgrade for qualifying owners on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Steam is confirmed. A native Switch 2 version and a new Battle.net release arrive the same day. No new physical edition has been announced. Songs of the Past is a separate paid expansion for 2027; its exact date and price are unknown.
Remastered is the 2015 single-player, open-world RPG rebuilt around the same story: Geralt of Rivia searches the Northern Kingdoms for Ciri while taking monster contracts, preparing oils and potions, developing signs and sword skills, and making choices that alter quests and relationships. CD PROJEKT RED remains the developer and publisher, with Yigsoft co-developing Remastered. Songs of the Past is being made by CD PROJEKT RED and Fool's Theory.

What changes on September 29

The upgrade combines visual work with mechanical changes. CD PROJEKT RED lists improved textures, foliage, lighting, rendering, and ray tracing; revised combat, traversal, movement, signs, mount handling, and monster behavior; a redesigned skill tree; transmogrification; and an expanded photo mode. The official announcement does not provide final PC requirements, console resolution targets, or frame-rate modes.
Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are now included with the base game at no extra cost. Existing saves remain compatible according to CD PROJEKT RED Support. Songs of the Past is not part of that free bundle: it is the third paid expansion.
Songs of the Past is a full expansion, not a $39.99 fact
The 2027 story sends Geralt and Dandelion to Dandelion's homeland, Letten. The peaceful rural setting hides a supernatural threat, with new monsters, mutagens, abilities, and a chain weapon. CD Projekt's joint CEO described it as a proper expansion closer in scope to Blood and Wine than a small free DLC, while stressing that the comparison is subjective.
Google may surface pages displaying $39.99, but CD Projekt has not announced a price. It has also not announced a day or month in 2027. Those two fields remain unknown.
