WHAT CHANGED

The free base-game update is separate from Cost of Hope and does not require a new campaign.

STALKER 2 Update 2.0 is a free base-game update, and existing saves are compatible. You do not need to start a new campaign just to receive its engine, visual, equipment, binocular, or custom-difficulty changes.

Official feature scope

GSC highlights an engine upgrade, foliage and lighting work, additional weapons and attachments, binoculars, and custom difficulty. These changes affect all base-game owners. They are not proof that the separate Cost of Hope story is owned.

Existing saves

Continue from an old save after allowing the game and platform to finish updating. Keep a manual backup before loading, particularly on a modded PC installation. A compatible save can still encounter a mod conflict or a later patch-specific bug; compatibility means a new campaign is not required, not that every third-party modification remains valid.

Expansion boundary

Cost of Hope launched on the same day and adds the paid story, regions, and expansion content. Ultimate Edition and Season Pass owners receive it, while other editions may require a purchase or upgrade. See release and edition entitlement before assuming the free update includes the DLC.
