FAST ANSWER

The roadmap confirms directions but avoids firm dates; distinguish the default branch, optional beta branch, current features, and future work.

Slay the Spire 2 is playable now in Early Access, but its roadmap is a direction of travel rather than a dated promise. Mega Crit says the game will remain in Early Access until it feels ready and offers a rough one-to-two-year comparison with the first game's development. The developer deliberately does not attach firm dates to individual features.

Available in the current Early Access foundation

The March launch established solo play, online co-op for up to four Steam friends, five characters, new cards, relics, potions, enemies, events, environments, and lore. Official materials also identify enchantments, afflictions, Ancients, quests, and alternate acts as new systems or content directions. Windows, macOS, and Linux are supported, and Mega Crit says the game is Steam Deck compatible.

Availability can differ between the default and beta branches. The beta branch is an optional test environment where experimental changes are adjusted before the team considers moving them into the main build. A feature appearing in beta should not be described as available to every default-branch player.

Confirmed roadmap directions

Mega Crit's April 2026 update lists the following work without firm release dates:

  • Steam Workshop support.
  • More language support.
  • A Bestiary for learning about enemies.
  • Experimental game modes.
  • Alternate Act 2 and alternate Act 3.
  • Another character.
  • More cards, events, relics, and potions.
  • Continued bug fixes, compatibility work, balance, quality-of-life, audio, and visual polish.
  • Later ports to additional consoles, platforms, and mobile.
  • Steam achievements and trading cards.
  • A true victory or true-ending layer.

The May update reported that the Bestiary had reached the beta branch and that beta patches had moved from a weekly to a bi-weekly cadence. That is evidence of progress, not proof that every roadmap item is already on the default branch.

How to read guide dates during Early Access

For exact card, relic, enemy, or character values, check the game version and branch. A guide written for a beta patch can be newer but less applicable to the stable branch. A main-branch guide can be stable but outdated after a major content update. Pages on this site should state a checked date and avoid presenting an old tier list as permanent.

When reporting a bug, reproduce it on the current branch, capture the version, and use the in-game feedback tool Mega Crit provides. When choosing whether to buy, judge the content that exists today. Roadmap items are useful context but should not be counted as current features.
