Camera choice does not change the protagonist or story; choose the view that makes navigation, threat tracking, and aiming easiest for you.
Resident Evil Requiem lets you play both Grace and Leon in first person or third person. The camera choice does not select the protagonist, unlock another route, or create a different ending. It changes what you can see and how movement and aiming feel.
| If you value… | Try first person | Try third person |
|---|---|---|
| Close inspection | The camera is centered directly on the environment | The character occupies part of the frame |
| Seeing your character | Grace or Leon is not normally visible during movement | Character animation and position remain visible |
| Immediate spatial awareness | Peripheral context is narrower | More of the space around the character is visible |
| Horror intensity | Threats can feel closer and less separated from the player | The character creates more visual distance |
| Familiarity | Fits players used to Resident Evil 7 or Village in first person | Fits players used to the modern RE2/RE3/RE4 camera |
A better way to choose
- Load a calm room with a doorway, a small object, and enough space to turn.
- Walk the same short route in first person and third person.
- Aim at the same environmental detail in both views.
- Turn quickly toward a sound or doorway and notice which view preserves orientation.
- Keep that view for the next full encounter before judging it.
This test is more useful than choosing from a screenshot. Some players aim more confidently in first person but navigate tight rooms better in third person. Others prefer seeing Leon's melee distance or Grace's position relative to a pursuing enemy.
Avoid switching every few seconds during the first tense section. Each camera builds different movement habits. Give one view enough time to become predictable, then change when a specific problem appears—motion comfort, lost orientation, difficult targeting, or blocked environmental detail.
The camera does not erase the protagonists' mechanical differences. Grace remains supply-limited and can craft from infected blood; Leon still uses an attaché case, weapon parts, melee, parries, and enemy weapons. Read Grace versus Leon gameplay for that distinction.

QUICK ANSWERS
Questions players ask next
Can I play all of Resident Evil Requiem in third person?
Official descriptions say both Grace and Leon's stories can be experienced in first and/or third person.
Does the camera change the story?
No official source identifies different story content or endings tied to perspective.
Which perspective is easier?
There is no universal answer. Third person shows the character and more immediate space; first person centers the view and can make close inspection or aiming feel more direct.
