GAME INTRODUCTION

What to know before you play

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics is an upcoming single-player, turn-based tactical game announced at gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026. You play as Six, choose assignments, prepare at headquarters, and command up to four Operators in the field. Ubisoft has not announced an exact release date.

What kind of Rainbow Six game is it?

This is not another first-person Siege mode. Ubisoft describes a solo tactical campaign that runs from assignment selection and intelligence review at HQ to squad preparation and turn-based field execution. The story takes place alongside the Rainbow Six Siege timeline, with a global threat forcing Rainbow to operate on a wider strategic scale.

The playable roster contains 15 Operators from Siege. Each has an ability, specialized gadget, and skill tree; Ubisoft has publicly named Ash, Sledge, Nøkk, and Montagne among them. A mission squad can contain up to four Operators, all directed by the single player.

The confirmed campaign loop

Headquarters is where you review intelligence, select assignments, choose the squad, train Operators, and improve the base of operations. Field objectives include Hostage Rescue, Bomb Disposal, and Target Elimination across more than 45 locations. Ubisoft has not equated that location count with a final mission count.

Combat keeps recognizable Rainbow Six systems while changing the pace. Recon tools and gadgets help expose the situation. Walls can be destroyed to open sightlines, remove cover, or create an entry point. The Breach feature queues coordinated actions and then sends the active squad into a synchronized assault.

The official reveal supports a systems overview, not a strategy guide. It does not establish optimal squads, mission routes, final balance, performance, Ironman rules, or a review verdict.

Who is this for?

The current pitch fits players who want deliberate, squad-based tactics built from Rainbow Six Operators, reconnaissance, breaching, and destructible environments. Players looking specifically for online Siege-style competition or co-op should note that Ubisoft has announced this as a single-player experience.
