MLB The Show 26 supports crossplay between its console platforms. The broad store limits are up to four local players and up to eight online, but those numbers are ceilings—not a promise that every mode accepts eight people.

Xbox lists local co-op for two to four, online co-op for two to three, and online multiplayer for two to eight. Nintendo lists one to four players on one system and one to eight online. Match type, mode, team setup, and platform can narrow those figures.

Crossplay does not remove account, service, or version checks. If an invitation fails, confirm that both games are updated, the intended mode supports the party size, the console account can play online, and cross-platform play has not been disabled in an account or game setting.
