The retail box is a code-in-box purchase and still requires a full digital download.
The GTA VI physical package does not contain a game disc. Rockstar Support says the box contains a download code, so the game still needs to be redeemed and downloaded through PlayStation or Xbox.
That means a physical buyer needs internet access, sufficient console storage, a working platform account, and a valid code. The package is scheduled for November 12, one week before release, so buyers can redeem and preload before November 19.
Rockstar notes that PlayStation codes follow region requirements, while Xbox codes are not region locked under the current terms. Check the package region and intended account before opening or redeeming a PlayStation copy. A redeemed one-time code should not be treated like a transferable disc.
If the goal is offline installation from physical media, this edition does not provide that experience. If the goal is a retail box or gift, verify that the recipient understands the download and account requirement. See preload timing for the install window.
