GTA 6 Preload Date, Download Time, and Launch Date

Console buyers can preload one week before release, but the official playable date remains November 19.

Grand Theft Auto VI preload begins November 12, 2026 at local midnight on supported PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series storefronts. The game unlocks for release on November 19; preload is not early access.

Digital buyers can use the preload window directly. Rockstar also says physical packages become available November 12 because the box contains a download code rather than a disc. Redeeming that code places the digital entitlement on the platform account and allows the same download process.

Before November 12, make sure the purchase appears in the correct account library, the console has enough free storage, and automatic updates are allowed if you want an unattended download. A preload may still receive a launch update before play.

“Local midnight” should be read according to the storefront and account region, not a converted North American time copied from social media. Rockstar may publish more granular unlock guidance closer to launch; if it does, this page must be reverified.
