Project Mugen was ANANTA's codename; Neverness to Everness is a separate Hotta Studio game with a different publisher, city, story, and live service.
Project Mugen and ANANTA are the same project; ANANTA and Neverness to Everness are not the same game. NetEase's December 2024 announcement explicitly says ANANTA was previously known under the codename Project Mugen. NTE is a separate urban open-world RPG from Hotta Studio with its own world, stores, accounts, updates, and launch date.

What changed from Project Mugen
Project Mugen was the public codename used when the game was announced in 2023. NetEase introduced the ANANTA name in December 2024 and carried forward Nova City, the Agent framing, urban exploration, action combat, and a free-to-play model. Current ANANTA product pages have since expanded the presentation to two named cities and a variety of playable characters and roles.
The name change does not make old Project Mugen videos a separate downloadable game. It also does not guarantee that every interface, character design, location, or mechanic shown under the codename survives unchanged into the January 2027 release.
Why ANANTA is confused with NTE
Both use anime-influenced urban open worlds, supernatural incidents, vehicles, action combat, and free-to-play distribution. Those genre similarities are real but do not establish shared development.
NTE's official launch page identifies Hotta Studio, Hethereau, an unlicensed Anomaly Hunter, and the Eibon antique shop. ANANTA's sources identify Naked Rain, NetEase, Nova City, Chongxiao, and a separate captain-and-roles framework. They have different sites, launch dates, accounts, content updates, and product records.
