The full release arrived August 18 across current platforms; the headline additions are host-based four-player online play, Multiplayer Coins, and deeper relationship stories.
Starsand Island Version 1.0 released on August 18, 2026. The current official listings cover Windows PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The full release's clearest additions are optional online multiplayer for four players total and expanded relationship content.
Release timeline
| Event | Date and meaning |
|---|---|
| Early Access / Game Preview | February 11, 2026 on Steam and Xbox ecosystem listings |
| Full Version 1.0 | August 18, 2026 |

Old pages that still call Starsand Island an upcoming game or a single-player Early Access title are stale. The dated 1.0 announcement and current console pages are the stronger evidence.
Current platform support
| Platform | Current official evidence |
|---|---|
| Windows PC | Steam, 20 GB storage, Steam Cloud, full controller support |
| PS5 | One local player, up to four online with PS Plus, 19 listed accessibility features |
| Xbox Series X|S / Xbox PC | Xbox Play Anywhere and cloud-save support are listed |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | 9.8 GB, one local player, one to four online, Save Data Cloud |
| PS4, Xbox One, original Switch | No current official product listing checked for these older systems |
Xbox's product history starts in February because it carried the preview build. That does not make February the full 1.0 date. It explains why different stores can show different-looking release histories for the same game.
Multiplayer is the headline 1.0 addition
The developer describes one host island and up to three visiting players. The host can choose open joining, join requests, or a password, then change permissions for crops, livestock, fishing, crafting, and other resources. Shared activities can award Multiplayer Coins for the Multiplayer Shop.
Your home island remains separate. This is not one permanent four-person save. Cross-platform multiplayer is also not currently supported; use the multiplayer and crossplay answer for the exact boundary.
Relationship changes
Version 1.0 added three-heart stories. Once an eligible relationship reaches three hearts, the next step can arrive through mail or a location-triggered quest. Players who already held three hearts in Early Access were told they could unlock those stories without starting over.
The dating update added activities such as picnics, arcade games, and kite flying. The official announcement says 14 romanceable NPCs, but it does not publish the full roster. The romanceable-character page keeps the conflict between the official count and older 15-name lists visible.
Patch timing after launch
The developer says PC updates may arrive first, with console patches following platform review. If a quest, multiplayer option, or fix behaves differently between PC and console, compare version numbers before assuming the guide or save is wrong.
