AT A GLANCE

Revival rebuilds environments, lighting, materials, character expression, UI, combat, cutscenes, voice presentation, and music while preserving Persona 4's central story and themes.

Confirmed Persona 4 Revival changes versus Persona 4 Golden include rebuilt environments, a free camera, revised lighting and materials, richer character expression, modernized UI and combat, reconstructed event scenes, new seasonal moments, rerecorded story dialogue, more voiced events, remixed music, and new tracks. SEGA still describes the project as preserving Persona 4's central story and themes.

What “story preserved” means

Producer Kazuhisa Wada says the team did not make the story more sensational and intends to preserve its themes. At the same time, rebuilt event scenes, new seasonal material, and expanded voice coverage can change pacing and presentation. “Story unchanged” therefore should not be stretched into “every line, camera angle, event condition, and optional scene is identical.”

The safe conclusion is that the murder mystery and character foundation remain intact while the way players see and hear many moments is substantially rebuilt.

Golden is the basis, not a complete checklist

SEGA calls Revival a remake of Persona 4 Golden, not just the original Persona 4. That is meaningful, but it does not by itself confirm every Golden dungeon, epilogue condition, Social Link detail, optional event, costume, difficulty setting, or platform bonus.

Until a first-party feature list names a particular element, pages should say “not yet detailed” rather than “cut” or “confirmed.” The same rule applies to requests for a female protagonist, a new Yosuke romance, rewritten endings, or entirely new villains: none is established by the checked official material.

Audio and voice presentation

SEGA confirms Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese audio on the official regional site, while Steam currently lists English and Japanese full audio for its store languages. The main story has been rerecorded, and Social Links plus new events receive additional voice coverage. That supports a broader voiced experience, not a claim that every optional line is voiced.

What needs the released build

Final comparisons of dungeon layouts, loading, performance, difficulty, calendar balance, romance routes, endings, New Game Plus, and scene-by-scene cuts require either a complete first-party disclosure or direct examination of the release build. This page will update when that evidence exists rather than filling the gap with remembered Golden mechanics.
