Revival keeps weakness knockdowns and All-Out Attacks while adding Baton Pass, a stun-capable Guard, status-spreading knockbacks, Nice Shot, and the multi-action Prime Time state.
Persona 4 Revival combat keeps elemental weaknesses, knockdowns, 1 More turns, Persona switching, and All-Out Attacks while adding Prime Time, Baton Pass, an active Guard, status-spreading knockbacks, and Nice Shot. These are confirmed systems, but final numerical balance and best-party advice must wait for the release build.
Confirmed combat loop
- Identify and hit an enemy weakness to knock it down.
- Use the resulting 1 More opportunity to act again or Baton Pass to an ally.
- Knock down the enemy group to open an All-Out Attack.
- Use Guard when appropriate; a successful block can now stun an attacker.
- Exploit status interactions by sending an affected enemy into others and spreading the condition.
Persona acquisition, fusion, skill inheritance, and party support remain part of the larger preparation loop. The official pages do not yet publish every skill, fusion recipe, damage formula, or difficulty modifier.
Prime Time explained
Prime Time is a new high-output state rather than a renamed All-Out Attack. SEGA says it enables consecutive actions, removes skill cost during the sequence, ignores enemy resistance, and allows free Baton Passes. A successful chain can end in a Series Finale.
That description establishes the rules at a feature level. It does not reveal the final activation requirement, duration in every encounter, damage multiplier, boss immunity rules, or optimal character order. Gamescom's Channel 3 demonstrates the system, but that route is reserved for press and creators.
Baton Pass and 1 More
Baton Pass appears during a 1 More opportunity, letting the active character hand momentum to another party member. This gives weakness coverage and turn order more flexibility than simply repeating an attack with the same character. The Steam screenshot labels the command “Baton Touch,” while SEGA's English system copy describes the mechanic as Baton Pass; both refer to the visible handoff system in current material.
No first-party source checked defines permanent Baton Pass ranks, Social Link prerequisites, or the complete list of pass bonuses. Those details should not be copied from Persona 5 or assumed from earlier games.
Guard, Nice Shot, and status effects
Guard can produce a stun after a successful block, changing it from purely defensive damage control into a potential opening. Nice Shot is named in SEGA's combat material and appears in official imagery, but the complete trigger and upgrade rules are not yet documented publicly.
SEGA does clearly explain one status interaction: launch an enemy already suffering a condition into other foes to spread it. That creates a party-planning question, but it is too early to publish a definitive ailment tier list or boss route.
