Steam does not list a native macOS or Linux build for its edition. NTE has a separate Mac release through Apple's storefront, but that does not turn the Steam Windows package into a Mac binary.
Steam storage versus official-launcher storage
The April launch FAQ lists at least 60 GB for the Windows client and warns that another 60 GB can be needed temporarily during file extraction. Steam now lists 70 GB. These numbers describe different distribution and installation paths at different dates.
For Steam, plan around the current 70 GB store requirement plus normal update headroom. For the standalone launcher, the official warning means a drive with only slightly more than 60 GB free can still fail during unpacking. The temporary extraction files are not the same as the final installed size.
Installation details that change the result
The official FAQ recommends an SSD because the PC client can start and load slowly on other storage. The launcher install path must use English characters. If an install reports insufficient space, free room on that exact target drive or choose another path, then reopen the launcher.
