Inventory and progression reset at launch; the beta can preserve the Flayed Harbinger cosmetic and unlock a Prologue-skip option after Marrow Keep.
Mortal Shell II open-beta progression does not carry into the full game as a complete save. The official beta page explicitly lists currency, weapons, Shells, collectibles, and other discovered items as reset at launch. Two narrower unlocks survive: the Flayed Harbinger cosmetic reward and, for players who progressed beyond Marrow Keep, an option to skip the Prologue.
What resets
Treat the release as a fresh progression state. Do not expect the following beta acquisitions to appear automatically:
- Currency earned in the beta.
- Weapons found or upgraded there.
- Shells discovered during the beta.
- Collectibles and other inventory items.
- General world and character progression not named as a reward.
The wording matters because the beta page says progress does not carry over “in full” and then names the reset categories. A cosmetic or menu option surviving does not mean the underlying save, inventory, or upgrade state survives.
What remains available
Playing the beta unlocks The Flayed Harbinger, an exclusive cosmetic that can be claimed in the full game. The official page also says that progressing beyond Marrow Keep unlocks the option to skip the Prologue. The skip is optional. If you need to relearn controls, see release changes, or understand the current tutorial flow, starting the Prologue again is the safer choice.
Do not delete a local beta save because a third-party comment promises another reward. First launch the full game with the same platform account, check the cosmetic and start options, and retain the beta data until the expected rewards are visible. The official pages do not promise cross-platform transfer between unrelated accounts.
Why a reset is useful
Cold Symmetry says the reset preserves the balance of the full release. Beta builds can differ in item placement, progression pacing, and tuning, so importing a complete inventory would also make launch advice harder to reproduce. Use beta knowledge for controls and system vocabulary; use the release build for locations, costs, upgrade decisions, and route claims.
