AT A GLANCE

Standard includes the base game; Ultimate adds Rockstar's named digital content and can also be purchased as a separate upgrade.

Buy GTA VI Standard if you only need the base game. Buy Ultimate only if Rockstar's specifically listed digital extras matter to you; the Ultimate upgrade can be purchased separately later.

Rockstar's support page is the source of record for current contents. Standard grants the game. Ultimate combines the game with the published Ultimate content, while the separate upgrade lets a Standard owner add that package. Regional storefronts determine actual price, tax, and availability.

Do not treat “Ultimate” as proof of early access, a season pass, every future update, or a permanent gameplay advantage unless Rockstar explicitly lists that benefit. The current launch remains November 19 for the documented editions.

A practical purchase rule is to read every named item, ignore the edition label, and ask whether you would buy those items separately. If the answer is no, Standard preserves access to the same base release. If you remain undecided, the separately sold upgrade reduces the need to preorder Ultimate solely from fear of missing it.

Preorder benefits are a different entitlement contract. See preorder bonuses for the Vintage Vice City Pack and GTA+ window.
