Horde Siege is the 12-player mode, Versus is 4v4, and The Coalition says the game replaces a battle pass with earnable progression across seasons.
Gears of War: E-Day splits multiplayer into 12-player Horde Siege, 4v4 Versus, and four-player cooperative Combat Training. These are not alternate labels for one mode: they have different team sizes and purposes.
Horde Siege expands cooperative survival to 12 players. Versus is built around four-person teams. Combat Training lets a four-player group learn maps and systems cooperatively. The official beta exposed parts of Horde Siege and 4v4 play, but beta balance should not be presented as final weapon or class advice.
The Coalition says E-Day will not use a battle pass or the older Tour of Duty structure. Almost all items are described as earnable, and the first year is organized into five themed seasons. That does not mean every cosmetic is free: paid-edition packs and store items can still exist. It means seasonal progression is not framed as a paid battle-pass track.
The page deliberately stops before ranking weapons, maps, classes, or leveling routes. Those depend on the launch version, live tuning, and reproducible matches rather than a marketing description or an expired test.
