Both August beta windows are closed; earned challenge rewards carry into launch, but beta progress and hardware targets should not be treated as retail rules.
The Gears of War: E-Day beta is no longer playable. Early access ran from August 6 at 12:00 PM Pacific through August 10 at 10:00 AM Pacific. The open beta ran August 13 at 12:00 PM Pacific through August 17 at 10:00 AM Pacific.
The beta included Horde Siege and 4v4 multiplayer. Official beta challenges awarded items that carry into the October game when the same eligible account is used. That is reward carry-over, not a promise that general beta level progression, balance, or every beta setting transfers unchanged.
The official FAQ also warns that published beta PC specifications were for that build rather than final launch requirements. Use the current Steam launch requirements when deciding whether a PC is ready. Likewise, videos recorded during the beta can demonstrate those modes but cannot prove final weapon balance or launch performance.
There is no reason to buy a more expensive edition for August beta access now. Premium's remaining time-based benefit is the advertised October 1 early start.
