Crossplay is on by default. PS5 and Xbox Series players can disable it under Settings > System > Setup; PC players cannot change the setting.

Battlefield 6 crossplay is enabled by default across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. PS5 and Xbox players can turn it off; PC players cannot. With crossplay on, EA says console matchmaking tries other console players first and brings PC players into the pool only when the console population is not sufficient.
How to turn off Battlefield 6 crossplay
On PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S:
- Leave any party, server, or active matchmaking queue.
- Open Battlefield 6 and select the cog to enter Settings.
- Select System.
- Under Setup, switch Cross-play off.
If the option is unavailable, check the first step before reinstalling or changing account settings. EA explicitly says the toggle cannot be changed while the player is in a party, in a server, or matchmaking.
| Platform | Crossplay available | Can change the in-game toggle | Pool after switching it off |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Yes | Yes | PlayStation 5 only |
| Xbox Series X|S | Yes | Yes | Xbox Series X|S only |
| PC | Yes | No | Crossplay remains part of the PC pool |
Turning crossplay off is a same-platform restriction, not a “consoles together without PC” switch. A PS5 player who disables it does not continue matching with Xbox players.
What console-first matchmaking actually means
EA describes the enabled console pool as a priority system. It first looks for other console players; if there are not enough, it can match consoles with PC. That is different from promising a permanent console-only lobby.
If the goal is to play with an Xbox friend from PS5, leave crossplay on. If the goal is to exclude every other platform, turn it off and accept that the available pool becomes smaller. The official article does not promise an exact queue-time change, so this page does not invent one.
Add friends through EA Connect
- Press R2 on PlayStation, RT on Xbox, or Tab on PC to open EA Connect.
- Open Player search.
- Search for the friend's EA ID or platform ID.
- Send the friend request and wait for it to be accepted.
- Open the Friends tab, then invite that player from the Party tab.
Adding a platform friend as an EA friend preserves the connection when the same person plays on another supported platform. If the friend is visible but cannot join, compare the crossplay state for every console player and make sure nobody has started matchmaking.
For connection symptoms after a party forms, use the high-ping and Network Graph guide. Return to the Battlefield 6 hub for current Season 4, campaign, hardware, and stats coverage.
